Planning Your Visit

What You Need to Know

For families planning to stay at Ronald McDonald House® Northern Alberta there are a few things they need to know:

  • Each family is asked to pay $12 per night for their room to cover a small portion of the House’s expenses.
  • Space is limited in the House so rooms are allocated based on a priority system dictated by the child's medical condition.
  • The House is a residential facility only; we do not have medical personnel on staff.
  • Families are welcome to check-in between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. seven days per week. Unfortunately, there is no admission after 9 p.m.
  • Babysitting is not provided. Children 12 and under must be supervised at all times.
  • Just like a real house, guests are responsible for doing their own cleaning, cooking, laundry and each room is assigned a housekeeping chore to help keep costs down.
  • Ronald McDonald House® Northern Alberta is a wheelchair accessible home.
  • Alcohol, illegal drugs, weapons, smoking, and pets are not permitted.
  • Bring your own slippers. No outdoor footwear or bare feet are permitted inside the House.

Anyone who is suffering from or who has recently been exposed to a communicable illness cannot be admitted (including family members with colds, flu or sore throats). This policy is vital in minimizing risk to children with weak immune systems.
