What We Do

Ronald McDonald House® Northern Alberta offers a home-like atmosphere for parents and children who travel long distances to seek medical treatment in a local Edmonton hospital.

Ronald McDonald House® Northern Alberta accomodates families from areas outside a 45km radius from the Stollery Children's Hospital including northern, and in some cases, southern Alberta, as well as British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Northwest Territories. More than 25% of the families come from outside of Alberta. See General Admission Requirements for details.

Ronald McDonald House® Northern Alberta has 30 bedrooms, each with a private bath. There are comfortable common living rooms, a well-equipped kitchen, several laundry rooms, and many play areas for the children and a back patio.

Ronald McDonald House® Northern Alberta provides support to families in many ways. The House is not only an affordable accomodation for families with sick children, but also a safe, secure and comfortable environment for families to:

  • Prepare and share a meal
  • Rest from the daily routine of caring for a sick child in the hospital
  • Draw strength and support from other families in similar circumstances
  • Utilize common facilities to read a book, watch TV, play games, or connect to the Internet

Ronald McDonald House® Northern Alberta does not provide medical treatment, nor is it a hospice or hotel.
