Frequently Asked Questions
Why collect pull tabs?
Pull tabs are an easy way to recycle and help our families at the same time. Anyone in your family, school, business, church, or service club can join in. These small pieces of aluminum are a way for you to help us to provide a home-away-from-home for families while their children are receiving medical treatment at area hospitals.
Which pull tabs?
We will be happy to accept donations of aluminum tabs from pop and juice cans, fish and meat tins, soups, and cat and dog food tins.
Why just the tabs?
The tabs from your pop and other cans are a clean source of aluminum that take up much less space than an entire can, so are much easier to store, and add up to dollars for the House. You may still recycle the entire aluminum can after you’ve saved the pull tab for Ronald McDonald House® Northern Alberta.
Who is our recycling partner?
Maple Leaf Metals has generously agreed to help us with our fundraising efforts. We take the pull tabs to them, where they are weighed and redeemed for cash per pound.
Where does the money go?
The dollars raised from the recycling of your donations of tabs are used for operations and supplies for Ronald McDonald House® Northern Alberta.
How do I collect and donate pull tabs?
All you have to do is pull ‘em and save ‘em! You can keep them in a baggie, or better yet, wrap your donation in aluminum foil...that way it’s all recyclable! When you’ve collected a bunch, tabs can be dropped off at or mailed to Ronald McDonald House® Northern Alberta (7726 107 Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta T6E 4K3) during the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., seven days a week.
Then start saving again! We’ll take them anytime!
